Education NSW introduces Lucas Gardens School in Canada Bay, for all your education and learning needs.
Lucas Gardens School provides educational programs for students with intellectual and physical disabilities, some of whom also have sensory impairments and complex medical conditions.
The school operates 6 classes on the Canada Bay site, and retains 2 places for part time enrolment for students in respite care at the Summer Hill Respite Centre. The school draws its enrolment from the Inner West area of Sydney, resulting in a diverse student population from a range of backgrounds.
Lucas Gardens School enjoys strong community support from local service organisations, resulting in enhanced resources, the development of specialised learning environments and the employment of school based Therapy Staff. Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology services are available through the schools own Therapy Staff, as well as by referral to DADHC and the Spastic Centre.
An Interactive sensory room, fragrant sensory garden, Liberty Swing, childrens library, touch screen computers and specially designed play environments all create a unique learning environment to support students to achieve their individual goals and maximise their independence.
Welcome to Lucas Gardens School one of the popular educators in your Canada Bay area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
